POSITION OVERVIEW

Our client recognizes the value that a talented team of engineers can bring to any product development challenge. However, their approach is not to silo them in a back-room, but make them integral to the entire process. What our client needs is an engineer that is not afraid to ask “what-if” and is never satisfied by their first idea. They need a self-motivated engineer who understands the value and importance of collaboration and is comfortable with ambiguity and face-to-face client interaction. The ideal candidate will understand the value of good communication skills, adaptability and speaking up when they have a breakthrough idea. They enjoy sitting in the fuzzy front end with creatives and iterating on new concepts. There is no room for egos on this team, so being able to work out a collective vision is a must. RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clearly and effectively articulate ideas, professional opinions, and recommendations to clients and internal multi-disciplinary teams

  • Contribute a creative outlook to bring exciting innovative solutions into each project

  • Ability to communicate ideas quickly and effectively through a variety of media including verbal articulation, hand-sketching and study models

  • Construction of robust 3D CAD models

  • Design and troubleshooting of complex mechanism-based assemblies

  • Strong 3D surface modeling skills to faithfully document complex geometry

  • Understanding and empathy for the final user experience

  • Self-motivated commitment to solving complex problems in an expedient timeframe

  • Lead and manage others to complete a project

  • Simultaneously work on multiple projects within a variety of industries balancing time management effectively


POSITION DETAILS & REQUIREMENTS

  • You will report to the VP of Industrial Design and will interact with team members from Industrial Design, Engineering and Usability as well as directly with clients

  • Must be an advanced user of Solidworks, experience with Pro/E a plus

  • Must have advanced skills with 3D surfacing and top-down modeling

  • Experience designing mechanisms required

  • Experience with injection molding required

  • Ideal applicants will have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience

  • Must be able to demonstrate a history employing thoughtful creative processes

  • The position is full-time and salary will align with your experience and skill.
