POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a talented and innovative Design Director to join our client’s design and engineering team to lead the ACE (Aesthetics, Cognition, and Ergonomics) function. In this pivotal role, you will be a key product design leader, driving the creation of new product concepts and ensuring the seamless integration of design, engineering, and technology. As Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire design process, managing cross-functional collaboration, and spearheading research and development initiatives to propel the company's future growth and prosperity.

RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is a senior-level manager/principal position. You will be responsible for:

  • Blend engineering, technology, and design expertise to develop world-class innovative solutions, delighting customers and driving business growth.

  • Manage the creative process from ideation to execution, ensuring high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, and functional designs.

  • Oversee the execution of models and prototypes, enabling fast iteration and learning to create exceptional products.

  • Lead and manage ACE design projects, cultivating a culture of creativity and innovation within the teams.

  • Collaborate closely with various departments, including engineering, product management, marketing, and displays/demo team, ensuring seamless integration and synergy across the organization.

  • Manage resource allocation, projects, and schedules for both the Industrial Design and ACE teams.

  • Lead research and development efforts, exploring innovative ideas and technologies contributing to the company's success.

  • Onboard new processes, tools, and technology to enhance the quality and speed of the prototyping process for both Industrial Design and ACE projects.

  • Conduct research on future technologies, ideas, and capabilities, staying ahead of industry trends and developments.

  • Perform benchmarking and competitive analysis to inform design decisions and maintain a competitive edge in the market.

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Industrial Design. Combination of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees is also considered.

Minimum of 8 years of experience in cross-functional product development.

Passion for innovative design with strong technical capability, demonstrated through a track record of successful product launches.

Knowledge of manufacturing, consumer electronics, and quality systems is a plus.

Experience in high reliability product design, consumer electronics, and manufacturing are desirable.
