The ideal candidate has a hands-on management strategy with a keen understanding of design process implementation. They are comfortable not only managing others, but also seeking out and maintaining relationships. Most of all, they are dedicated to ensuring current and future success of the firm by strategically acquiring new business.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the management and administration of the business development function including staff, client proposals, strategic planning, and budget.

Coordinate business development efforts to generate new business and grow customer satisfaction.

Represent business development during internal review of corporate strategies, goals, and objectives.

Facilitate mutually beneficial relationships with key potential customers by promoting design, engineering, and manufacturing excellence.

Manage the quality cohesion of all the company's product development efforts to grow its reputation.

Help recruit candidates for open positions through interviews, evaluations, and recommendations of staffing.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Awareness of the latest business development, design, engineering, and implementation methodologies

Client, staff, and third party management
Advanced consulting skills
Experience in delivering product development projects on time and budget

SHORT TERM GOALS:

Establish proactive management role of business development activities including required planning, administration, communication and documentation.

Develop a written plan for optimized business development.

Establish an understanding of the company's industrial design, engineering, and manufacturing services.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor Degree in Design or Engineering, or similar technical field

5-10 years of consultative business development expertise with a product development or similar professional services firm.
