Our client, a world-class manufacturer of consumer goods located in New Jersey, is looking for a highly talented and passionate Design/Engineer.
The ideal candidate will have structural packaging experience and expert 3D modeling abilities as well as an established real-world understanding of production processes and new manufacturing method. They should also be comfortable working directly with engineering to design to develop and produce innovative solutions.
If selected, designers will be involved in all areas of the packaging design process for top brands world-wide from concept sketching to advanced modeling and rendering for client presentations. Designers will have the opportunity to manage a variety of projects and are expected to complete projects on time and on budget.
Profile

- Develop new products and concepts from inception to production
- Manage multiple projects in the New Product Development Space
- Research and identify consumer insights and utilize in the creation of new projects.
- Develop design briefs and validation criteria. Support through the creation of tools and documentation
- Work with multidisciplinary teams in the support of brand initiatives and new innovation.
- Develop and protect new IP through patenting and registration.
- Strong personality who thrives in a culture of Questions and Answers
Qualifications:
- Results Oriented self-starter with proven Project Management skills.
- Above Average Industrial Design Skills.
- Excellent problem solving skills combined with a creative and undaunted approach to innovation
- In depth knowledge of the product development cycle from concept to production.
- Strong knowledge of Injection Moulding, Blow moulding, and other material forming technologies (part and tool design).
- Excellent sketching and ideation skills
- Strong negotiating skills. Ability to synthesize the different interests of key stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation skills (written and oral).
- Ability to build strong relationships and networks with 3rd parties, specifically Design Consultancies, RB factories and Contract Manufacturers.
- Proficient in the use of 3D CAD, e.g. Pro-Engineer, SolidWorks.
- Proficient in the use of 2D design software, e.g. Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Basic knowledge of the financial aspects of New Product Development e.g. Capex, COGS, P&L.
- Basic knowledge of quality tools including AQLs, CPK analysis, and SPC.
- Open to travel domestically and internationally at a short notice up to 3 weeks at a time.
Education
BS degree in Industrial Design or Mechanical Engineering with a
Minimum 4 years post-degree experience and proven track record of successful delivery of device related projects in a FMCG company, or related field. Consultancy experience plus.
MUST have a car & ability to commute to NJ. Not accessible by public transportation.
