Our client, a world-class manufacturer of home & residential products, is looking for a highly talented and passionate Senior Industrial Designer to join their team. Our ideal candidate would be a senior designer with strong leadership skills and a great design sensibility. He or she should have experience in handling complex design projects from concept generation through implementation, preferably geared towards lifestyle design. The candidate should be able to represent the design department while actively collaborating with various other divisions within the company. While the candidate will provide design inspiration and technical guidance to the team, he or she shouldn’t be afraid to roll up their sleeves once in a while.
Responsibilities
* Constantly build upon your understanding of the specific design field
* Initiate, manage, and lead design projects from ideation through implementation
* Employ a user-focused approach that delivers a product with outstanding functionality
* Take on a leadership role, guiding other designers while participating in the day-to-day
* Be a conduit within the Industrial Design community, keeping up with developments and relations in order to lead innovative thinking
* Build relationships with consultants and vendors
* Design while considering logistics and business objectives
Major Tasks
* Collaborate with engineers, buyers, vendors, and marketers to deliver an outstanding product on all fronts
* Brainstorm broadly to generate new ideas
* Employ an in-depth design process, including researching, iterative sketching and model making
* Formulate and deliver clear representations of the team’s work and progress
* Use modeling techniques not only for final representation, but also for experimenting and developing ideas
* Incorporate new technologies and techniques as they come about
* Stay appraised of market and industry developments to understand the direction of the market
* Be well-versed and knowledgeable about the techniques and processes of the company
Specific Skills
* Standing as an EU citizen
* Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college of industrial design with emphasis on furniture, interior, and lighting
* 5-9 years experience in design or related field
* Outstanding design vision / sensibility, aesthetics and form, sketching
* The ability to inspire and mentor others, as well as work alongside them
* Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team and with clients
* Excellent presentation and communication skills
* Materials and manufacturing knowledge
* Strong mechanical aptitude
